1.) Mix together warm water and yeast. Let rest for a few minutes. 2.) Mix in brown sugar, salt, flour and sourdough starter/discard. 3.) Once dough comes together mix in melted butter. Continue kneading until dough is uniform and smooth. 4.) Place dough into a bowl, cover with a towel and let rest until doubled in size…about 90 minutes. 5.) Dump dough out and divide into 8 pieces. 6.) Firmly roll each chunk of dough into a long strip…about 18” inches long. 7.) To shape the pretzel, form a U, then cross ends over one another, twist, and lay ends down at the bottom of the U. 8.) Repeat for remaining pieces. Place onto parchment covered cookie sheet, and cover with towel. 9.) Add baking soda to water and bring to a boil. Boil pretzels for 20 seconds each side. Remove with slotted spoon and place back onto parchment covered cookie sheet. 10.) Place into 450°F preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes…until desired doneness. 11.) Dip in your favorite sauce and enjoy!
