This French Onion Steak Sandwich features succulent NY Strip steak combined with caramelized onions and a homemade mayo, all sandwiched between slices of homemade sourdough bread. Perfect for a hearty meal!
Add olive oil to a pan and sauté onions until softened. Add in balsamic vinegar and a little salt, stir until softened.
Season steaks as you desire, usually with a generous amount of salt and black pepper.
Once onions are caramelized, set aside.
Heat the same pan to medium high heat. Cook steaks to desired doneness. Once done, let rest for about ten minutes, then slice into strips.
Combine all mayo ingredients, adding oil last. Blend with an emulsion blender until thickened, about 20-30 seconds.
Chop up about 1/3 of your onions and add to mayo.
Butter your bread and lay it onto a pan over medium heat. Spread mayo, then steak, then onions, cheese, more mayo, then top piece of bread. Flip once golden brown. Remove when golden on the other side.
Repeat for remaining sandwiches. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
